Civic Leader in PTA, 4-H, drama and middle school team leader; delegate to the Representative Assembly from 1967 to 1982; member of boards of American Red Cross, Girls, Inc.; AAUW, Russellville Home Demonstration Club, Christian Women's Club, Basileus of Beta Phi Chapter, Phi Delta Kappa, Retired Teachers Association, Hamblen County Education Association, Progressive Child Development Center. Selected Ideal Homemaker 1984 &amp;amp; 1985; Girl's, Inc., Volunteer 1985, Bronze Woman of the Year Award 1985, Sorority Woman of the Year 1985, placed 2nd in Southeast Region Phi Delta Kappa 1985; selected First Lady of Morristown 1988. She is the daughter of Thomas Eugene and Katie C. Chestnut Irvin and is the youngest of 9 children. Irvin’s Legacy includes; being the principal and classroom teacher from 1940 to 1966 at Miller Boyd School, Pineville; classroom teacher from 1966 to 1982 in Hamblen County at Whitesburg and Russellville. Civic Leader in PTA, 4-H, drama and middle school team leader; delegate to the Representative Assembly from 1967 to 1982; member of boards of American Red Cross, Girls, Inc.; AAUW, Russellville Home Demonstration Club, Christian Women's Club, Basileus of Beta Phi Chapter, Phi Delta Kappa, Retired Teachers Association, Hamblen County Education Association, Progressive Child Development Center. Selected Ideal Homemaker 1984 &amp;amp; 1985; Girl's, Inc., Volunteer 1985, Bronze Woman of the Year Award 1985, Sorority Woman of the Year 1985, placed 2nd in Southeast Region Phi Delta Kappa 1985; selected First Lady of Morristown 1988. Irvin Graduated from Morristown College High and Morristown College and furthering her education at other colleges and universities. Career choices were so limited in the 1940’s that she chose teaching to improve the family’s standard of living and to help Black’s improve their living conditions. Irvin’s motto was “whatever the task, do it the best you can and finish it to the best of your ability.”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This collection is a compliation of Willie V. Irvin's life accomplishments complimented by images of family, students and collegues.</text>

She is the daughter of Thomas Eugene and Katie C. Chestnut Irvin and is the youngest of 9 children. Irvin’s Legacy includes; being the principal and classroom teacher from 1940 to 1966 at Miller Boyd School, Pineville; classroom teacher from 1966 to 1982 in Hamblen County at Whitesburg and Russellville. Civic Leader in PTA, 4-H, drama and middle school team leader; delegate to the Representative Assembly from 1967 to 1982; member of boards of American Red Cross, Girls, Inc.; AAUW, Russellville Home Demonstration Club, Christian Women's Club, Basileus of Beta Phi Chapter, Phi Delta Kappa, Retired Teachers Association, Hamblen County Education Association, Progressive Child Development Center. Selected Ideal Homemaker 1984 &amp;amp; 1985; Girl's, Inc., Volunteer 1985, Bronze Woman of the Year Award 1985, Sorority Woman of the Year 1985, placed 2nd in Southeast Region Phi Delta Kappa 1985; selected First Lady of Morristown 1988. Irvin Graduated from Morristown College High and Morristown College and furthering her education at other colleges and universities. Career choices were so limited in the 1940’s that she chose teaching to improve the family’s standard of living and to help Black’s improve their living conditions. Irvin’s Legacy includes; being the principal and classroom teacher from 1940 to 1966 at Miller Boyd School, Pineville; classroom teacher from 1966 to 1982 in Hamblen County at Whitesburg and Russellville. Civic Leader in PTA, 4-H, drama and middle school team leader; delegate to the Representative Assembly from 1967 to 1982; member of boards of American Red Cross, Girls, Inc.; AAUW, Russellville Home Demonstration Club, Christian Women's Club, Basileus of Beta Phi Chapter, Phi Delta Kappa, Retired Teachers Association, Hamblen County Education Association, Progressive Child Development Center. Selected Ideal Homemaker 1984 &amp;amp; 1985; Girl's, Inc., Volunteer 1985, Bronze Woman of the Year Award 1985, Sorority Woman of the Year 1985, placed 2nd in Southeast Region Phi Delta Kappa 1985; selected First Lady of Morristown 1988.                   <text>"Willie V. Irvin, born March 23 about 1952 in Whitesburg, Tennessee. Miss Irvin provided educational leadership for four Decades in Hamblen County. She is the daughter of Thomas Eugene and Katie C. Chestnut Irvin and is the youngest of 9 children. Irvin’s Legacy includes; being the principal and classroom teacher from 1940 to 1966 at Miller Boyd School, Pineville; classroom teacher from 1966 to 1982 in Hamblen County at Whitesburg and Russellville. Civic Leader in PTA, 4-H, drama and middle school team leader; delegate to the Representative Assembly from 1967 to 1982; member of boards of American Red Cross, Girls, Inc.; AAUW, Russellville Home Demonstration Club, Christian Women's Club, Basileus of Beta Phi Chapter, Phi Delta Kappa, Retired Teachers Association, Hamblen County Education Association, Progressive Child Development Center. Selected Ideal Homemaker 1984 &amp;amp; 1985; Girl's, Inc., Volunteer 1985, Bronze Woman of the Year Award 1985, Sorority Woman of the Year 1985, placed 2nd in Southeast Region Phi Delta Kappa 1985; selected First Lady of Morristown 1988. Irvin Graduated from Morristown College High and Morristown College and furthering her education at other colleges and universities. Career choices were so limited in the 1940’s that she chose teaching to improve the family’s standard of living and to help Black’s improve their living conditions. Irvin’s motto was “whatever the task, do it the best you can and finish it to the best of your ability.”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This collection is a compliation of Willie V. Irvin's life accomplishments complimented by images of family, students and collegues.</text>
