Newspaper Article Titled "Services today for country's oldest resident, Leola Bassett" detailing Leola Peck Basset, age 107, is the granddaughter of freeman and veteran (formerly enslaved by The Adam Peck Family of Mossy Creek). Leola went to the "school in the woods" and was involved with women's society's and church. Surviving family: Daughter- Florence Peck Treece, Son-in-law and daughter- Eugene and Ophelia Peck, Grandchildren and Spouses- James E. and Barbara Dean, Steven and Arlene Peck, John Rogers Treece, Clinton and Margaret Treece Gulley, 8 Grandchildren- unnamed.
