This book highlights Negro Methodist Episcopal Church named Boyd Chapel. Another notable church is Elizabeth Chapel, where Trustee W.B. Peck did business. Mrs. Leola Peck Bassett recalls her great uncle Silas "Uncle Cy" Peck, Janitor of Elizabeth Chapel and Mossy Creek Methodist after relocation, is buried beside the churches original location. Church attendance in Jefferson County was not where leadership wanted it to be so in attempt to increase participating Rev. W.G. Harris invited Boyd's Chapel to attend some church events, a successful integrated vacation bible school and a not so successful adult evening services.
